Charles is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Chairman of Gateley Hamer Ltd; a UK wide, specialist property consultancy based in Birmingham providing clients with advice and solutions relating to electricity and other utility infrastructure.
He is Joint author of Electricity Wayleaves, Easements and Consents: Litigation Practice and Procedure (2007) and an accredited expert witness having undertaken the Advanced Professional Award run by Legal Experience Training for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Charles advises extensively on compensation and wayleave hearings and provides expert evidence relating to utility apparatus and associated rights.
Recent work includes providing expert evidence at arbitration proceedings and advising developers, consortiums and international clients on utilities affecting large-scale developments within the UK.
Charles has given presentations on utility rights to the Compulsory Purchase Association, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and numerous legal and surveying practices.
